Incline walk

Provide a lower-impact aerobic option when continuous running is not yet repeatable.

Equipment
Treadmill or steady hill
Used in the plan
Foundation · Freshen up
Race context
Spartan · General
Athlete walking upright on an inclined treadmill without holding the handrails.

Before you start

Set up the movement.

  1. 01

Use a treadmill incline or a steady outdoor hill.

  2. 02

Choose a grade that does not require holding the handrails.

  3. 03

Keep steps short enough to maintain an upright torso.

One useful cue

Keep the first rep repeatable.

Stand tall, use a natural arm swing and choose an incline that does not require the handrails.

Training use

Purpose before prescription.

IN YOUR PLAN

Incline walking keeps the aerobic purpose while reducing repeated landing impact.

WITHOUT THE EQUIPMENT

Walk a flat route at a brisk but repeatable effort when no incline is available.
